What is WhatsApp Payment?
WhatsApp Payment is a new feature that allows you to send and receive money directly from the WhatsApp app. You can use it to settle dinner bills, rent payments, or even to send money to your loved ones across the world. The feature is currently being beta tested in India, but there are indications that it will roll out to other countries as well.

How to set up WhatsApp Payment?
First, you will need to download the latest version of the WhatsApp app. Next, start a conversation with the person you want to send money to and tap on the “$” icon at the top right corner. You can also swipe left to open the conversation menu and tap on Payments to select the contact you want to send money to. Now select the amount you want to send by tapping on the amount slider or typing in a specific amount. Next, you will have to authenticate your bank account using your phone number and an oTP. Once you’re done, you will have the option to choose between “Receiver pays fees” and “Sender pays fees.” You can also schedule a specific date and time to send the money by tapping on “Choose a date” and selecting the date from the calendar.

Send or receive money using WhatsApp Payment
Once you’ve set up WhatsApp Payment, sending and receiving money is pretty straightforward. When you send money to someone, you’ll get a notification on the amount that has been debited from your bank account. Other things to know about WhatsApp Payment
* You can send money to anyone who is a part of the beta test in India. Currently, WhatsApp Payment is only available on Android. WhatsApp has not announced when the feature will be rolled out to other countries and on what platform. * Do note that the feature is in beta testing, which means you may encounter a few bugs or issues while using it. * You can only use WhatsApp Payment to send money to someone who has your phone number saved in WhatsApp. * You will have to authenticate your bank account using your phone number and an oTP. * If you wish to send money using the “Sender pays fees” option, you will have to set up a debit/credit card. * WhatsApp Payment currently supports a few Indian banks – Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India. * You cannot use WhatsApp Payment to send money to a WhatsApp group. * You cannot use WhatsApp Payment to send money to a WhatsApp Super Chat.

To pay or receive money using other apps
WhatsApp Payment is currently available only in India. If you are outside the country, you can use other apps like Paytm, Google Tez, and PhonePe to send or receive money.
